What is the Generic Event?
Cardiolite® (Kit for the preparation of Technetium Tc-99m Sestamibi for injection), produced and distributed by Lantheus Medical Imaging, Inc., is losing its patent protection on July 29, 2008. Generic versions of Cardiolite® may be distributed and sold after the patent expiration. Cardiolite® is used in approximately 60 percent of the 15 million myocardial perfusion imaging procedures done yearly in the United States.
